But the angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid; I know that you are looking for Jesus who was crucified. He is not here; for he has been raised, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples, ‘He has been raised from the dead…’” –Matthew 28:5-7

Holy Week, 2015

Holy Week, beginning with Palm Sunday and ending on Easter Sunday, is a special time at Emmanuel Lutheran Church when we reflect on the foundation of our faith, and celebrate God's purpose. Our members welcome everyone in our community to join us.

7:00 p.m.:The Tenebrae Service
The lights of Emmanuel are lowered as each of Jesus' Seven Last Words are read, and the last reading ends with the Sanctuary in complete darkness.

Saturday, April 4th – Holy Saturday
7:00 p.m.:“A Round-Trip Ticket to the Underworld”
led by Jim Roberts
Jesus' journey through the doors of death becomes the invitation to sing and chant our way to the tomb… and sound our way with Earth Gong and Tibetan bowls down into the Underworld…. Eventually we breathe, chant, and spiral our way back to the living community, bringing the gift of the Underworld back to our people. If you prefer, bring a cushion, mat, or blanket on which to sit or lie down.

All welcome, no charge. Donations to the church.
