Camp Director's Note of Thanks

From David Stocker:

Music on almost any level connects us with our very being. Jam and Jazz Summer Music Camp can be a spiritual experience for some. Making lasting friendships and exploring the vibration that activates and unites us as humans is deep stuff that is real. Our curriculum is not religious in any way. Jam and Jazz operated for many years as a fully financially independent camp. We found that in order to provide transportation, snacks, and group activities a church was the proper place to find infrastructure with facilities, adequate insurance and a volunteer base to make camp safe and successful for all. I celebrate and acknowledge with gratitude, our partnership with Emmanuel Lutheran Church a safe place in the heart of Rockford where artists of all ages are welcomed and nurtured.

Regarding Financial Assistance

Our fees reflect the actual cost of providing the quality of programming we have been able to offer for the last 12 years. Our teachers, clinicians, and instructors are professional educators and musicians. This year we received a generous grant from Thrivent Financial of the Lutheran Church. This will make it possible to offer scholarships and discounts to many of our young musicians. We also offer helper/volunteer tasks to parents as a means of receiving a discount, and we can invite teen musicians to mentor young musicians during the first week as a way to earn a discount on tuition so they can attend the second week. Please ask about discounts if you think it will be necessary. We will try our best to share the discounts among those who request. People paying full tuition understand that they are helping other kids to come to our camp.
